Home Security Checklist
- Are all entrances to your home equipped with proper lighting?
- Do you keep all entry doors in your home locked?
- Have you removed any two-keyed deadbolt locks that could hinder your escape in the event of a fire?
- Do doors feature wide-angle peepholes?
- Are glass panels in or near your door reinforced so they cannot be shattered?
- Do all entryways to your home have a working, keyed entry lock and deadbolt lock?
- Do you have locks for the garage doors?
- Do you make sure the garage doors are kept locked when not in use?
- Are any sliding glass doors equipped with strong, working locks?
- Do you check to make sure any sliding door is locked every night and when leaving the house?
- Does every window in the house have a working lock?
- If your home has window security bars, are they equipped with a quick release mechanism to allow for a quick escape in the event of a fire?
- Do you trim bushes and shrubs near windows regularly?
- Is every dark area around your house, garage and yard lighted?
- Are light bulbs for outdoor areas in good working order?
